During World War II, Henry Ford knowingly used slave labour at a German Ford plant to manufacture equipment for the Nazis. Adolf Hitler considered Ford an inspiration and kept a photo of Ford behind his desk.

In 1923, Hitler described Ford as "the leader of the growing Fascisti movement in America", said he "admire[d] particularly his anti-Jewish policy", and wished he could send some of his "shock troops to America" to help Ford get elected president.
