"If conservatives become convinced that they can not win democratically, they will not abandon conservatism. They will reject democracy." ― David Frum
Some surprising honesty, today, at the US Supreme Court:
Justice Barrett: What is the interest of the GOP in keeping (laws that suppress minority voters) on the books?
Republican Lawyer: It puts us at a competitive disadvantage relative to Democrats.
Several Republicans (including Trump) have admitted in recent years that if all eligible voters were allowed to vote (as they should in a properly-functioning democracy), the GOP would never win another election.
So they are now on their knees, blatantly begging the Supreme Court to help them cheat, to make voter suppression that favours Republicans legal.
In voting rights case, Justice Barrett asks GOP lawyer Michael Carvin “what’s the interest” to Republicans in keeping voting restrictions in AZ.

As Republicans push massive voter suppression laws across country, they admit they can’t win without making it harder to vote https://t.co/btOcvSq6dQ

A dilemma: We need more votes. What should we do?So insane. The entire implication is that R's have no responsibility to "win" votes by actually HELPING CONSTITUENTS or making real policies. Talk about White privelege.

(a) Give voters more of what they want and need, so voters like our party and vote for us.
(b) Enrich ourselves by passing whatever laws *WE* want and cheat wherever we can to suppress our opponents' numbers. We all know which way the GQP has chosen.
It was never about "election integrity." It was always about making it harder for Dems & people of color to vote
