June 19: 33,539 new cases
First day with 30,000+ new cases since May 31.
June 20: 33,388 new cases
Two consecutive days with 33,000+ new cases in US for the first time since April 24-25.

Five consecutive days with 25,000+ cases in US for the first time since April 29-May 3.
June 23: 36,038 new cases
Most new cases in a single day since April 24.
June 24: 38,412 new cases
A global record for new cases in a single day. The US has two consecutive days with 38,000+ new cases for the first time.

Florida reports a new daily record of 5,508 new cases. Its previous record was 4,094 cases, set only three days ago. Florida's seven-day rolling average of new cases has increased about 70% over the last week.

Texas reports a new daily record of 5,551 new cases. Its daily average of new cases over the past seven days has increased approximately 80%. Texas's daily average of hospitalizations over the past seven days has increased roughly 53%.

June 25: 40,212 new cases
A global record for new cases in a single day. The US is the only country with 40,000+ new cases in a day.

The US's seven-day rolling average of daily new cases has increased more than 34% compared with one week ago.

31 states are seeing an increase of 5+% in new cases. Only 2 states are reporting a decrease in new cases.

12 states report record highs in new cases, based on their seven-day rolling averages.

16 states report an increase in hospitalizations.

California, Florida, and Texas report record highs in new cases.

Texas reports 47 deaths, its highest daily total in one month.

Arizona set a record high in daily deaths, with a seven-day average of more than 30.

California has seen its number of daily new cases increase by 43% and hospitalization increase by 9% in the past week (according to the seven-day rolling averages).
June 26: 47,365 new cases
A global record for new cases in a single day. First day any country has had 47,000+ new cases.

At least 10 states report record highs in new cases in the past week (Alabama, California, Florida, Idaho, Mississippi, Missouri, Nevada, Oklahoma, South Carolina and Wyoming).

Arizona has "lost control of the epidemic", according to disease trackers.

Texas, after being at the forefront of reopening, has issued a halt to its measures. Bars have been closed, river-rafting has been stopped, and restaurants must return to no more than 50% capacity.

New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut announced that people travelling from eight states (Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, and Utah) must self-quarantine for 14 days after arrival.

June 27: 43,599 new cases
Arizona reports a record high in new hospitalizations.

Florida, South Carolina, Nevada, and Georgia all report a record number of new cases.

Nevada is stunned by 1,100 new cases, after previously never topping 500 before.

Georgia's seven-day rolling average for new cases has nearly tripled in the last month. Hospitalizations are also nearly at their highest levels.
June 28: 40,563 new cases
Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Utah report record numbers of new cases in the last two days.

Arizona also reports a record high in new hospitalizations (the old mark was set yesterday).

In Tennessee, Nashville and Davidson counties require the wearing of masks in public.

Bars and restaurants in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, which includes Pittsburgh, have been ordered to stop the sale of onsite alcohol. Masks are now required at all businesses, including restaurants and bars.

California orders bars to close in seven counties (Los Angeles, Fresno, Imperial, Kern, Kings, San Joaquin, and Tulare). Bars are encouraged to close in eight other counties (Contra Costa, Riverside, Sacramento, San Bernardino, Santa Barbara, Santa Clara, Stanislaus, and Ventura). Masks are mandatory in public.

Residents of San Antonio, Texas, are urged to stay home, wear face coverings, practice social distancing, and avoid gathering with people outside of their households as the city records its highest number of cases in a single day.

Nearly 200 Florida doctors sign a letter to the Mayor of Jacksonville urging the Republican National Convention to be postponed, calling the city's decision to host the event "extremely dangerous", "predictably harmful" and "medically disrespectful to the citizens of this city". Florida reports a record number of new cases today.

June 29: 44,764 new cases

June 30: 46,075 new cases
Texas reports a record high number of new cases.

Kansas orders its residents to wear masks in public.

New cases in the Madison, Wisconsin, area reach a new high.

The Ohio counties that include Cincinnati and Cleveland have seen the number of new cases double in the past two weeks. Republican Governor Mike DeWine says the increases are not the result of more testing, contradicting the White House's claim.
July 1: 51,097 new cases
A global record for new cases in a single day. It is the first time any country has seen 50,000+ new cases in one day.

Today is the fifth single-day case record set in eight days.

Today's total tops 50,000 for the first time, though Dr. Anthony Fauci says he will not be surprised if the US soon sees 100,000 new cases daily.

The number of new cases in the US has increased by 80% in the past two weeks.

As more Republicans (including Mike Pence) are recommending masks, Donald Trump says the virus will "sort of just disappear" (an inanity he has repeated countless times since February).

8 states report record high numbers of new cases (Alaska, Arizona, California, Georgia, Idaho, Oklahoma, South Carolina, and Texas).

37 states are experiencing an increase in new cases.

23 states have changed or stopped their reopening plans.

Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick says that Dr. Fauci "doesn't know what he's talking about" and "I don't need his advice any more".
Texas has set a new record for hospitalizations for nine consecutive days. At the Texas Medical Center (the largest medical center in the world), 100% of the ICU beds are filled. Ambulances in Houston, Texas, have been forced to wait as long as an hour to unload patients at emergency rooms. Never forget that Patrick said, on April 21: "There are more important things than living."

Arizona, praised by Trump for its reopening plans, is seeing record numbers of new cases. The governor has closed its water parks and ordered bars, gyms, and movie theaters to close for 30 days.

California has also seen an explosion in new cases after it eased restrictions, leading to the re-closing of bars and indoor dining in 19 counties (72% of the state). Museums, zoos, beaches, movie theaters, and other indoor facilities have also been told to close or stay closed for the next three weeks.

The biggest public hospital in Miami, Florida, announces it is postponing all non-urgent elective surgeries. The hospital's caseload has doubled in the past two weeks.

Indoor service at bars throughout most of the lower part of Michigan is being stopped.

Pennsylvania and Oregon have ordered their citizens to wear face coverings in public.

Texas, Colorado, and Delaware have placed limits on, or ordered the closing of, bars.

In Florida, beaches from Palm Beach to Key West will be closed for the Fourth of July weekend.

All countries in the European Union (as well as Iceland, Norway, Switzerland, and Liechtenstein) are beginning to open their borders to travelers from Algeria, Australia, Canada, Georgia, Japan, Montenegro, Morocco, New Zealand, Rwanda, Serbia, South Korea, Thailand, Tunisia, Uruguay. Travelers from the United States will NOT be allowed to enter.

New Zealand closed its borders in March and imposed one of the world's strictest lockdowns. By June, it had virtually eradicated community transmission and lifted all restrictions. However, the country's health minister, David Clark, resigned today, saying his missteps (mountain biking on a public trail and visiting the beach with his family, as well as mishandling the quarantine of visitors at the border) had become a distraction for the government.
