10 states (Alabama, Arizona, California, Florida, Nevada, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Carolina, Texas) saw record-high seven-day averages of new COVID-19 cases this week.
23 states are seeing an upward trend in new cases.
Despite the rising number of cases, Donald Trump has minimized risks - and lied last Wednesday when he said the virus is "dying out".
There have been more than 8.7 million cases worldwide and nearly half a million deaths (461,000).
