Hundreds of attendees at a rally in Nebraska were left stranded at 9 PM and forced to walk almost four miles in the dark when the buses which had brought them from the parking lot to the rally site did not show up to take them back.

Seven people were taken to hospital for hypothermia and a total of 30 people needed medical attention, including several elderly people, an electric wheelchair user, and a family with small children. The temperature was barely above freezing, and with wind chill it was 27.

Almost 90 minutes after Trump flew off in Air Force One, CNN's Jeff Zeleny overheard an Omaha police officer request "at least 30 more buses". (The Trump campaign blamed "local road closures" because of course they did.)

According to Omaha Scanner (a local news outlet):

Officers who do not have an assignment are going around to parking lots to pick up stranded people and attempt to locate their vehicles. Airport maintenance vehicles also assisting. . . . 

One officer advising 8 to 9 elderly people who are struggling. Separate officer advising they have located an elderly party who is frozen cold unable to move with an altered mental status. 

Officers requesting incident command find a warehouse or somewhere for people to stop to warm up who are walking to their cars.

Wednesday, October 28

Seventeen people at a Trump rally in Tampa, Florida, needed medical attention from the heat, after standing for hours packed together (most attendees did not wear masks) in the heat. 

At least 12 people were sent to hospital; one fainted and another suffered a seizure. Reports stated that at one point a fire truck sprayed water in the air to rain down on some rallygoers.

Thursday, October 29

Trump held 17 rallies between August 17 and September 26. It was reported today that the host counties had an increased rate of new Covid-19 cases one month after 14 of the 17 rallies. In a majority of those 14 counties, infection rates had been declining in the month before the rally.

Cases in Minden, Nevada, skyrocketed by 225% after Trump's September 12 rally, compared to 74% in the rest of the state. Rates of infection increased by 385% in Bemidji, Minnesota, one month after Trump's September 18 rally.

Another analysis, by the Center for American Progress (CAP) revealed that county-level increases in Covid-19 cases followed at least 11 of 22 Trump campaign rallies held between June and September.

Thomas Waldrop, policy analyst at CAP and co-author of the report:

By virtually any standard, Trump's rallies ignore every public health recommendation to mitigate the spread of Covid-19. They involve thousands of people, packed closely together, with few people wearing masks and no attempts at social distancing.

Emily Gee, a health economist at CAP and co-author of the analysis:

The president and his team have flouted the rules at every turn. These rallies offer a boost to the president's ego but risk leaving behind a trail of sickness and increased strain on local public health departments and medical systems.

The United States reports more than 100,000 new COVID-19 cases, the highest single-day total of any country on earth. That capped a week in which the US set and reset a new single-day record four times. The announcement of 100,000 new cases came two days after the White House sent out a press release touting Trump's first-term accomplishments, which included "Ending the COVID-19 Pandemic".

Saturday, October 31

Trump rally attendees were left stranded AGAIN!

It's both hard to believe and completely believable.

Another group of researchers, from Stanford University, looked at 18 Trump rallies between June 20 and September 22 (15 outdoors, 3 indoors).

They calculated those rallies led to more than 30,000 cases and at least 700 deaths (that would not have occurred if the campaign events had not taken place), according to today's report in the Los Angeles Times.

Trump is scheduled to hold 11 rallies in the final 48 hours before polls close on Tuesday night.

Sleepy Joe Is A Streetwalking Cheetah With A Heart Full Of Napalm

I've been reading a bit about this "Sleepy Joe" character. Man, he sounds like a fuckin' bad ass!

He's hiding out in his basement for now, but if he gets elected, he will magically transform into the universe's most powerful super-hero (or -villain). Sleepy Joe will be very busy, carrying out the agenda of "people that you've never heard of, people in the dark shadows, people that are controlling the streets". 

Not only will he destroy electricity, outlaw windows, and ban cows, he will "hurt God"! (I'm thinking of starting a petition to get that on pay-per-view.)

Sleepy Joe has his own version of "Marry, Fuck, Kill". It's called "Ban, Abolish, Destroy" and everything is in every category! Check it out!

Back in late June, Dr. Anthony Fauci told the US Senate he "would not be surprised" if new virus cases eventually topped 100,000 per day. With cases increasing from coast to coast and more than 91,000 new cases on Thursday, it looks like the US will be hitting six figures very soon. 41 of the 50 states have at least 10% more new cases this week as compared to last week. 

About fourteen weeks ago (July 22), the US death toll was roughly 145,000. At that time, covid19.healthdata.org projected "219,864 deaths by November 1, 2020". The US passed that number approximately three weeks ago. The number of deaths is about 235,000.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention states that the true US death toll attributable to the pandemic is about 300,000, through early October. This number included "not only deaths known to have been directly caused by the coronavirus, but also roughly 100,000 fatalities that are indirectly related and would not have occurred if not for the virus".

Trump Lists "Ending The COVID-19 Pandemic" As A First-Term Accomplishment;
Also This Week: The US's 7-Day Average Of New Cases Reached An All-Time High

The White House included ending the coronavirus pandemic on a list of the Trump administration's science and technology accomplishments, despite nearly half a million Americans tested positive for Covid-19 in just the last week.

A White House Office of Science and Technology Policy news release made the claim in announcing a document highlighting the administration's science and technology achievements over the past four years.

"Highlights include: ENDING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC," the news release sent to reporters read. "From the outset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Administration has taken decisive actions to engage scientists and health professionals in academia, industry, and government to understand, treat, and defeat the disease."

When asked for comment on including ending the pandemic among the administration's first term accomplishments . . . White House communications director Alyssa Farah said the release was "poorly worded."

"The intent was to say that it is our goal to end the virus. But what I would say is this: because of the President's leadership, we are rounding the corner on the virus," she added.

The news release comes as the country reports the largest number of daily cases seen to date. The seven-day average of daily new cases reached an all-time high of 68,767 on Sunday, according to data from Johns Hopkins University. . . .

The abysmal week was marked by the two worst days of daily new cases reported since the pandemic began. More than 83,000 new cases were reported both Friday and Saturday, and the seven-day average of new Covid-19 cases has soared 23% in the past week, according to Johns Hopkins data on Monday. The seven-day average of new tests performed, meanwhile, has risen only 2.87% over the past week, according to the Covid Tracking Project. . . .

New cases are also being seen within the administration itself. At least five aides to Vice President Mike Pence, including his bodyman and his chief of staff, Marc Short, tested positive for coronavirus in recent days . . .

Gorsuch: Courts Must Not Succumb To The "Temptation" To Protect the Right To Vote

Trump said on Tuesday that counting all the ballots cast in an election is (or should be) illegal. He wants all votes received after Election Day (no matter what the reason for the delay) to not be counted.

The Supreme Court appears to agree with him. Even though many of the ignored ballots would have been cast for Trump and there has never been an election in the United States in which all ballots were counted on Election Day. Never. Not one.


But Trump et al. don't care if all the votes for him are counted. The vote totals in any particular state (and the US, in general) are irrelevant. The goal is creating widespread chaos and having the Supreme Court award him a phony victory. Trump has gone a long way towards achieving that goal by installing a justice that many Republicans are publicly bragging is wholly partisan.

Meanwhile, Trump played the same set list at today's Superspreader event. He:

admitted he hates testing for the coronavirus "in many ways"

said testing causes cases (hey, he hasn't claimed testing causes deaths (yet))

said it was a matter of opinion whether a militia plot to abduct and murder Michigan governor Whitmer was a problem ("maybe it wasn't")

claimed to have won the "Michigan Man of the Year" (an award that has never existed)

thinks all women are housewives and don't have jobs

bragged that he punched the virus and beat it up

expressed jealousy over how much attention the virus has been getting (acknowledging reality is now an attack on Trump)

boasted that many dictators, who are also his friends, praise him for the awesome job he's done with [destroying] the American economy

confessed to war crimes

As we head into the final stretch of the election, Covid-19 is on a roll.

Coronavirus cases keep hitting records — among other things, five aides to Vice President Mike Pence have tested positive. Hospitalizations, which lag behind cases, are soaring. And deaths, which lag even further behind, are starting to rise, too. Put it this way: Just between now and Election Day, we're likely to lose almost twice as many Americans to Covid-19 as died on 9/11.

So how is the Trump administration responding? Actually doing anything about the pandemic is apparently off the table. What we're getting instead is a multilevel public relations strategy: We're doing a great job. Anyway, there's nothing anyone can do. And besides, doctors are faking the numbers so they can make more money. . . .

After Two Record-Setting Days Of New Virus Cases, Trump Administration Admits
It Will Never Have A Plan & Has Abandoned All Attempts To Contain The Pandemic

Five aides to Vice President Mike Pence have tested positive for SARS-CoV-2. The positive tests have come "in the past few days", according to the New York Times. Pence, the head of the White House Coronavirus Task Force, did not wear a mask at a rally last night in Tallahassee, Florida, one of several violations of CDC guidelines. 

The Trump administration tried to keep the news of the positive tests a secret, just as they tried to hide the fact of the previous outbreak about three weeks ago. Mark Meadows, the White House chief of staff, dismissed the news, but did not deny its accuracy. 

During his incoherent interview with CNN's Jake Tapper this morning, Meadows told people to follow CDC guidelines but also implied masks are ineffective. 

Despite his close proximity to several people infected with the virus, Pence is refusing to quarantine and will continue with his campaign schedule.
Mr. Meadows was also pressed by the "State of the Union" host, Jake Tapper, on why Mr. Pence, who had been in close contact with his chief of staff, Marc Short, was continuing to appear at campaign events. Mr. Meadows said that the vice president was performing "essential" duties that exempted him from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines calling for people to quarantine for 14 days after exposure to the virus.

The C.D.C. guidelines allow "critical infrastructure workers" to continue working after a coronavirus exposure as long as they are asymptomatic. Campaigning, however, is not essential work. The guidelines also state clearly that a critical worker who has been exposed to the virus should "wear a face mask at all times," among other precautions. . . .

Mr. Trump and his aides have repeatedly laid out a false choice, implying that the only two options are to flout public health guidelines as he has, or to "lock everybody down" and "quarantine all of America," as Mr. Meadows put it on Sunday.
Meadows also admitted on national television that the Trump administration has abandoned all attempts at reducing the surge of new infections across the country.
"We're not going to control the pandemic."
"It is what it is."
The past two days have been the highest for new cases since the pandemic began: 85,000+ on Friday and 78,000+ on Saturday. The Times noted that "case numbers on weekends are often lower because some states and counties do not report new data, so the high numbers on Saturday gave reason for alarm".

The coronavirus is raging out of control throughout the United States, even as Trump lies about "turning the corner". Of course, this is the same guy who said, more than six months ago, on April 15, that new cases had "passed the peak" and the virus was dying out. Since then, there have been more than eight million new cases in the US and more than 200,000 deaths.

Six states – Alaska, Ohio, Oklahoma, Colorado, New Mexico and Illinois – reported their highest-ever infection totals on Saturday. The worst outbreaks are currently in rural areas.

The Times:
[P]ublic health officials warn that Americans are heading into a dangerous phase, as cooler weather forces people indoors, where the virus spreads easily. It could make for a grueling winter that tests the discipline of the many people who have grown weary of masks and of turning down invitations to see family and friends.
