Rand Paul, Senate Coronavirus Hearing: "We Shouldn't Presume That A Group Of Experts Somehow Knows What's Best"

One key characteristic of the United States ever since its founding is the suspicion, disgust, ridicule, and hatred of knowledge.

This disdain of intelligence is nothing new, but I don't think it has ever been so publicly and proudly proclaimed by elected officials as it is now. It's equally frightening and breathtaking hearing people "in charge" insist that downplaying a deadly virus and placing trust in grossly ignorant people who favor prayer over science and have no clue what they are doing is the best course of action.
