Following Donald Trump's lead, both Russia and China have not congratulated Joe Biden for winning the 2020 US election. (But but but Trump said both countries were in love with Biden . . . it's so confusing . . .)
A Russian spokesman simply said Vladimir Putin would work with "any elected president of the United States", adding that no other message would come until Trump's "legal procedures" are settled. Chinese officials stated they are waiting for Trump's official concession before congratulating Biden.
On Sunday night, Russian TV host Dmitri Kiselyov said the recently-concluded election showed the US is "not a country but a huge, chaotic communal apartment, with a criminal flair". One lawmaker stated that American democracy had deteriorated so much that "one can manipulate it, tune it, tamper with it to achieve a certain result".
Ella A. Pamfilova, the head of Russia's Central Election Commission, echoed one of Trump's favourite lies from the campaign, saying mail-in voting was too vulnerable to cheating. "This anachronism in its American version opens up boundless possibilities for potential fraud. It turns out I was right. What's going on now in the United States is the best illustration of that."
Meanwhile, Fox News cut away from a White House press conference on Monday night immediately after Kayleigh McEnany claimed, with zero evidence, that Democrats were "welcoming fraud and ... illegal voting".
Neil Cavuto, the anchor in the studio, said, "Whoa, whoa, whoa," and cut off the feed.
I just think we have to be very clear that she's charging the other side as welcoming fraud and welcoming illegal voting. Unless she has more details to back that up, I can't in good countenance continue showing you this.
I want to make sure that maybe they do have something to back that up, but that's an explosive charge to make, that the other side is effectively rigging and cheating. If she does bring proof of that, of course we'll take you back. So far she has started saying right at the outset — welcoming fraud, welcoming illegal voting. Not so fast.
Sources at Fox said that decision was Cavuto's and not from Fox executives.
