California orders bars to close in seven counties (Los Angeles, Fresno, Imperial, Kern, Kings, San Joaquin, and Tulare). Bars are encouraged to close in eight other counties (Contra Costa, Riverside, Sacramento, San Bernardino, Santa Barbara, Santa Clara, Stanislaus, and Ventura). Masks are mandatory in public.
Residents of San Antonio, Texas, are urged to stay home, wear face coverings, practice social distancing, and avoid gathering with people outside of their households as the city records its highest number of cases in a single day.
Nearly 200 Florida doctors sign a letter to the Mayor of Jacksonville urging the Republican National Convention to be postponed, calling the city's decision to host the event "extremely dangerous", "predictably harmful" and "medically disrespectful to the citizens of this city". Florida reports a record number of new cases today.

Kansas orders its residents to wear masks in public.
New cases in the Madison, Wisconsin, area reach a new high.
The Ohio counties that include Cincinnati and Cleveland have seen the number of new cases double in the past two weeks. Republican Governor Mike DeWine says the increases are not the result of more testing, contradicting the White House's claim.

Arizona, praised by Trump for its reopening plans, is seeing record numbers of new cases. The governor has closed its water parks and ordered bars, gyms, and movie theaters to close for 30 days.
California has also seen an explosion in new cases after it eased restrictions, leading to the re-closing of bars and indoor dining in 19 counties (72% of the state). Museums, zoos, beaches, movie theaters, and other indoor facilities have also been told to close or stay closed for the next three weeks.
The biggest public hospital in Miami, Florida, announces it is postponing all non-urgent elective surgeries. The hospital's caseload has doubled in the past two weeks.
Indoor service at bars throughout most of the lower part of Michigan is being stopped.
Pennsylvania and Oregon have ordered their citizens to wear face coverings in public.
Texas, Colorado, and Delaware have placed limits on, or ordered the closing of, bars.
In Florida, beaches from Palm Beach to Key West will be closed for the Fourth of July weekend.
All countries in the European Union (as well as Iceland, Norway, Switzerland, and Liechtenstein) are beginning to open their borders to travelers from Algeria, Australia, Canada, Georgia, Japan, Montenegro, Morocco, New Zealand, Rwanda, Serbia, South Korea, Thailand, Tunisia, Uruguay. Travelers from the United States will NOT be allowed to enter.
New Zealand closed its borders in March and imposed one of the world's strictest lockdowns. By June, it had virtually eradicated community transmission and lifted all restrictions. However, the country's health minister, David Clark, resigned today, saying his missteps (mountain biking on a public trail and visiting the beach with his family, as well as mishandling the quarantine of visitors at the border) had become a distraction for the government.
